# Bison CFO > Your accounting department, without the headcount. Bookkeeping, controllership, and CFO services for owner-run businesses from $1M to $100M in revenue. One team, one connected system, results guaranteed in writing. Bison CFO is a US accounting and fractional-CFO firm based in Oklahoma City, founded by Kurtis Hanni. It works like an external accounting department that feels internal: senior people, connected systems, and more expertise at every layer than the in-house hires it replaces, for less than their payroll. ## What Bison CFO does - Bookkeeping: monthly close reconciled by day 10, bank-ready statements - Controllership: close playbooks, controls, reporting owners trust - Fractional CFO services: forecasting, pricing, cash strategy, weekly cadence - Cash & Profit Diagnostic: a 3-week assessment, guaranteed to identify more recoverable profit than it costs or the fee is refunded in full - 13-week cash flow forecasting, budgeting, KPI dashboards, margin analysis, AR/AP process design, financial systems and automation - CFO leadership alongside existing internal accounting teams ($25M–$100M+ companies) ## How engagements work Every engagement follows three phases: Diagnose (3–4 weeks, guaranteed), Implement (fixed scope, 2–6 months), Advise (ongoing, month-to-month, cancel anytime). Packages by company size: Bookkeeping (~$1M–$5M revenue), Financial Essentials (~$3M–$15M), CFO Packages (~$5M–$50M), and internal-team partnership ($25M–$100M+). ## Pricing Ongoing advisory engagements typically run $2,500 to $15,000 per month depending on scope, priced after the Diagnostic. The Diagnostic is a flat-fee engagement with a money-back guarantee. No long-term lock-in: implementation is project-based and advisory is month-to-month. ## Who it's for Owner-run businesses, $1M to $100M revenue, with real operational complexity. Compare: a full-time bookkeeper runs ~$55K plus benefits. ### Financial Essentials (roughly $3M–$15M revenue) Everything in Bookkeeping, plus a 13-week cash forecast kept live, an owner's scorecard of five numbers monthly, and a quarterly review with someone senior. Compare: a bookkeeper plus an analyst runs ~$120K before benefits. ### CFO Packages (roughly $5M–$50M revenue) The complete accounting department: books, controls, forecasting, plan-vs-actual run monthly, a weekly CFO cadence covering margins, pricing, and decisions, and board- and bank-ready reporting. This path starts with the guaranteed Diagnostic. Compare: an in-house CFO alone runs $250K+. ### Internal-team partnership ($25M–$100M+) For companies that already have a department: fractional CFO leadership over internal staff, controllership oversight, special projects (system builds, covenant work, diligence), and a senior bench the controller can call. ## The guarantee The Cash & Profit Diagnostic is guaranteed to identify more recoverable profit than it costs. If it doesn't, the fee is refunded in full, in writing, no argument. ## Frequently asked questions ### What does the ongoing engagement cost? It depends entirely on what we find. That’s why we do the Diagnostic first. It would be unfair to both of us to guess at a price before we’ve actually looked under the hood. Most of our ongoing advisory engagements land in the $2,500 to $15,000 per month range, but we can’t tell you where you’d fall until we’ve done the work. If that range is outside your budget, we’re probably not the right fit right now, and that’s okay. ### Do you do bookkeeping? Yes — though we’re not a bookkeeping firm. We’re a finance and accounting firm, and part of what we do is help you identify the financial and accounting needs you have and how to fill them. If your books need work before we can do our job well, we’ll flag it in the Diagnostic and scope it into Implementation. ### I already have a bookkeeper / accountant / controller. Good. We’re not here to replace them. We’re the strategic layer that sits on top of their work and makes sure it’s actually driving the business forward. Some of the businesses we work with already have someone handling the day-to-day. What they don’t have is someone connecting those numbers to decisions. ### What makes you different from a typical fractional CFO? Most fractional CFOs give you meetings and reports. We diagnose the financial and operational problems in your business and then actually solve them. We install systems, fix processes, and build infrastructure that works without us. Our job isn’t to tell you what’s wrong. It’s to fix it and show you the dollar impact. ### How do you protect our financial data? Our team operates as a unit, which means shared access to financial systems across the Bison CFO team. We’re upfront about this because it’s how we deliver consistent, reliable work. If you’re not comfortable with that model, we need to know before we start, not after. We treat your data with the same care we’d want for our own businesses, and we’re happy to discuss specific security practices on our intro call. ### We might be too small for this. Maybe. That’s exactly what the Diagnostic tells us. We do our best work with owner-led businesses over $1 million in revenue that have real operational complexity. If you’re not there yet, we’ll tell you. You’ll still walk away with a clear financial picture and specific things to act on. That’s why there’s no obligation beyond the Diagnostic. ### We\u2019ve been burned by consultants before. That’s why we built the model the way we did. The Diagnostic is a three-week, defined-scope engagement. You see the work before you commit to anything else. There’s a built-in off-ramp. Implementation is project-based with a defined end. Advisory is month-to-month. We don’t lock anyone in because we don’t want clients who feel trapped. We want clients who keep working with us because the results justify it. ### Can I just hire you for ongoing advisory without the Diagnostic? No. We start every engagement with the Diagnostic because we refuse to prescribe solutions before we understand the problem. We’ve seen too many advisory relationships fail because nobody did the upfront work to understand what the business actually needed. The Diagnostic protects both of us from that. ### What if the Diagnostic shows we don\u2019t need ongoing work? Then we’ll tell you. It’s happened. Some businesses get the clarity they needed from the Diagnostic alone and can move forward on their own. That’s a good outcome, not a failed sale. The Diagnostic has standalone value regardless of what comes after. ### What if we eventually want to hire a full-time CFO? Great—that’s a sign of growth. A fractional CFO helps you get strategic insight now, without the cost or delay of a full-time hire. And when it’s time to bring someone in-house, we’ll help make that a smooth transition. We build systems that survive that handoff, not ones that depend on us being there. ### How long will it take to see results? We move fast. Most clients see their first strategic recommendations within 3–5 weeks through the Diagnostic. Those early findings often include quick wins you can act on immediately, even before we scope any ongoing work. ### Where are you located? Kurtis is based in Oklahoma City, OK, and the rest of the team works remotely. We work with businesses across the country, and in-person support is available when needed.
